Harkin's ADA 20th Anniversary Summer Tour at NIVC Services Friday, July 9th


Senator Harkin's staff invites you to attend a meeting at NIVC Services, Inc. on Friday, July 9th at 9 a.m. The NIVC Services building is located on the northe east side of industrial park at 1225 South Harrison Avenue in Mason City. The ADA Summer Tour meeting will be held in the atrium of the main office/Work Center. The Summer Tour celebrates the 20th Anniverary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and includes all 99 Iowa Counties. A brief program will highlight how the ADA has made a positive difference in the lives of North Iowans with disabilities. To attend, please call NIVC Services at 641-423-3301. See attached postcard.

  • Becker Appointed to National APSE Board


    The Board of Directors of National APSE recently appointed Sherry O. Becker, Executive Director of NIVC Services to a one-year term beginning July 1, 2010. APSE’s mission is to increase equitable integrated employment opportunities for citizens with disabilities around the country. Becker’s years of work supporting the mission of helping people with disabilities work along with public policy activities led to her appointment.

    One of the requirements of APSE board membership is attending the national conference in Atlanta, Georgia that began June 8. Becker also co-presented a panel discussion on organizational change – moving from sheltered workshops to community employment.

    APSE holds an important place in the world of employment for citizens with disabilities. The board of directors is committed to increasing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
